Our new rugs are a beautiful design aiming to combine the traditional qualities of Herdwick fleece with contemporary design. Woven for us in the Scottish Borders they show the natural colours of the Herdwick wool with a hint of colour in a few understated stripes of dyed Herdwick.
I handweave 100% Herdwick floor rugs using thick Herdwick rug yarn in natural grey and also hand dyed. Strong and hardwearing just like the sheep.
Not many in stock but commissions taken. Maximum size I can weave is about 85cm wide and 2m long.
The green and russet rug shown here is 84 x 147cm.
This green/russet/blue one is smaller – 49 x 70cm.

Pam Hall is a hand weaver, working mainly in wool from her own sheep. Her inspiration comes from the ever changing magnificent landscape of her local area, the Northern Fells of the English Lake District.
Fornside is a working sheep farm. Most of our sheep are Herdwicks, the iconic Lakeland breed. They are the hardiest of sheep well suited for harsh winters on the fells. The wool is relatively coarse but full of character and very hardwearing.
